GPRS Basics Training
Who Should Attend?
The course is intended for those who want to extend their GSM knowledge with aspects of GPRS architecture and functionality on basic level. The detailed description of technical solutions is not included in the course.
Course Content
- Evolution of data transmission in GSM networks.
- Comparison between circuit switching (GSM) and packet switching (GPRS).
- Internet Protocol IP.
- The structure of a GSM/GPRS network new GPRS nodes and changes to the existing GSM nodes.
- The procedures of GPRS attach, PDP context activation and SMS over GPRS.
- Radio transmission.
- Quality of service and charging.
- EDGE technology.
Course Objectives
1-day GPRS Basics course focuses on packet-switched data transmission – GPRS – in GSM networks. The course explains how packet switching affects the efficiency of data transmission both from network operator’s perspective (economical usage of radio resources) and end-user’s perspective (using the advantages of charging based on the amount of data sent).
Pre-requisites
The participants should have attended the GSM Basics course or have equivalent knowledge (GSM network architecture and functionality).
Training Structure
One day training divided into logical sessions.
Methodology
Instructor led training.
