GSM RSS Parameter Training
Who Should Attend?
The course is particularly intended for engineers who work with planning and optimisation of radio network.
Course Content
- Introduction to parameter planning.
- GSM radio resource configuration (multi-frame, frequencies).
- GSM radio resource allocation (role of interference, handling of blocking situations).
- GSM activity states (state machine, cell selection, location update).
- Measurement report (standard & enhanced report, averaging).
- GSM closed loop power control.
- Handover control (HO types, evaluation of adjacent cells, air interface related / urgent / traffic related HO).
- Multi layer operation (Macro/micro cells, dual band, normal/tight frequency reuse layer, high/low TRx power layer).
- GSM voice coding (FR & HR, AMR codecs & link adaptation).
- Mobility to UMTS.
Course Objectives
The participant learns in detail the GSM features and the parameters to configure and control them. This includes the definition and allocation of radio resources, mobility management by cell selection and handover, the optimization of the air interface by power control and capacity enhancement by multi layer operation.
Pre-requisites
The participants are expected to have good knowledge of the GSM radio network.
Training Structure
Three days training divided into logical sessions.
Methodology
Instructor led training.
