The 4 day NGN-Next Generation Network training course is developed for telecom professionals working with project and product management, hardware and software development, system engineering, testing and verification, network planning and operations engineering.
Course Content
- NGN Concept & Architecture introduction.
- IMS introduction. Network & services evolution brought by IMS.
- UMTS Architecture (brief, reminding informations). Migration from 3G to 4G.
- New network elements.
- Interfaces in 3G/4G networks, detailed description of interfaces in core network and protocols used.
- Non-access stratum procedures description (Mobility Management, Call Controll, GPRS Mobility Management, GPRS Session Management).
- RANAP - Radio Access Network Application Part. Interworking with UTRAN.
- Protocols in Core Network:
- SIGTRAN - SS7 over IP, introduction, architecture, basic informations about network dimensioning.
- SCTP - Stream Control Transport Protocol.
- M3UA - MTP3 User Adaptation Layer.
- SUA - SCCP User Adaptation Layer.
- Brief overview of other US’a: M2UA - MTP2 User Adaptation Layer & M2PA - MTP2 User Peer2Peer
- Adaptation Layer.
- H.248 MEGACO Protocol. Interworking between MG and MGCF.
- BICC - Bearer Independent Call Contol Protocol. Includes also description of IPBCP, APM, SDP.
- SIP - Session Initiation Protocols.
- DIAMETER. Basic security issues in NGN networks.
- Optionally: Other core network protocols, if required: GTP (including GTP’), MAP, transport protocols
- (ATM, AALx, IP/UDP/TCP).
- Voice coding, coders used in 4G networks, quality issues.
Course Objectives
The NGN-Next Generation Network course explains the reason behind choosing IP for a bearer also for real-time multimedia services as Voice, Video and TV. All nodes, interfaces and protocols in the NGN architecture are described. The course covers the protocols SIP, Diameter and H.248, as well as the aspects of Services, Security, Charging and QoS.
