Signalling in GSM Training

Who Should Attend?

The course is intended for experienced network engineers and network tuning staff and anyone with network experience, who needs deep technical knowledge on functionality of GSM.

Course Content

  1. GSM network structure, signalling procedures and signalling protocol layer model.
  2. Air interface (physical layer, LAPDm, RR, MM, CM).
  3. A-bis interface: between BTS and BSC (physical layer, LAPD, BTSM).
  4. Signalling System No. 7 (MTP, SCCP).
  5. A-interface: between BSC and MSC (MTP, SCCP, BSSMAP, DTAP).
  6. Interfaces within Switching System (MTP, SCCP, TCAP, MAP, ISUP, INAP, CAP).

Course Objectives

Signalling in GSM course focuses on signalling between GSM nodes. During the course all protocols and signalling procedures on all interfaces within Base Station System are presented in details. The organisation of channels of air interface and cell parameters is also widely covered in the course. The course also describes signalling within Switching System (SS No. 7) and presents co-operation between SS and BSS during procedures like call set-up and location update.

Pre-requisites

The participants should have attended GSM Technology course or should have the equivalent knowledge. Practical experience in GSM would be recommended.

Training Structure

Four days training divided into logical sessions.

Methodology

Instructor led training.
